About the Shop Local Movement
This project is the brainchild of the Port Hardy Chamber of Commerce who manage it and this website. The movement began in 2021 when we teamed up with the Port McNeill Chamber of Commerce and multiple partners to build a shop local mindset throughout our region.

This campaign continues today and aims to illustrate, through education and awareness raising, the importance of shopping where you live.

The first campaign was funded by the Government of Canada and the BC Chamber of Commerce.  In 2023 we received funding through the Province of BC to build on the successes of the original campaign.

By hiring local contractors, and buying all of our marketing materials, advertising and supplies locally, we are proud to say that 99.9% of our funding is being spent right here where we live.
